The Dragonflies are a troop hailing from Oakland, California. Like the Honeybee Scouts, the troop consists of young girls probably between the ages of 7 through 12.

They are far more mischievous and ill-mannered in comparison to the Honeybees, seeing how they are mentioned as the most fierce troop in the Bay Area.

According to Bessie, each Dragonfly scout is handpicked from birth and trained in 64 types of combat including long division, although this may be an exaggeration on Bessie's part.

The Dragonflies act on their own accord, claiming other troops' territories as their own. Cherry is the leader of the gang. Chelsea Gibbons used to be a Dragonfly when she was younger.

Overview

In "Dragonflies," the girls set their sights on the Honeybee's Recreation Center, though Portia does not take them too seriously. Cherry, the Dragonflies' leader, threatens they won't be nice the next time they see the Honeybees.

As Penny is unaware who they are, Bessie proceeds to tell her about the Dragonflies and their reputation. The Dragonflies are known throughout the state of California for stealing other scout troops home bases and claiming it as their own. They have hijacked several troops within the Bay Area, namely the Junebugs, The Beavers and the Berkeley Butterflies. According to Bessie, those who are a part of the Dragonflies are chosen at birth and trained from infancy in all kinds of hand-to-hand combat.

The Honeybees then discover the Dragonflies have stolen the Recreation Center as their own. Both troops dispute ownership, and so meet with Portia's cousin Chelsea to settle the score. Chelsea ultimately decides the Honeybees and Dragonflies will partake in the "Chelsea Challenge," wherein whichever troop gets to Alcatraz with frozen yogurt first will win occupancy at the Rec Center. Before the race begins, Chelsea mentions she used to be a Dragonfly, worrying the Honeybees and causing the Dragonflies to smile.

Throughout the race to Alcatraz, the Dragonflies cheat in order to better their chances at winning, such as a Dragonfly eating a word puzzle, Maude eavesdropping on the Honeybee conversation about strawberry frozen yogurt being Chelsea's favorite and using her brute strength to spin a sign to throw the Honeybees off track.

After the Honeybees successfully defeat The Black Widows, the girls try to catch up to the Dragonflies, but it's supposedly too late as Cherry just bought the final strawberry frozen yogurt at Go Go's Fro-Yo. Nonetheless, Portia purchases raspberry flavor, opining any flavor is better than none.

The Dragonflies are the first to reach the ferry, yet the Honeybees manage to catch up thanks to dolphins and other marine life. Ultimately, Cherry is the first to reach Alcatraz with her strawberry yogurt, but Chelsea gags on it, proclaiming it as not "her fav fav."

Cherry is confused by this. Portia is then seen feeding her cousin the raspberry yogurt, calming Chelsea down. Chelsea declares the Honeybees as winners. Portia reveals she knew Maude was listening in on her and lied about strawberry being Chelsea's favorite.

Cherry and the other Dragonflies protest this decision, with Cherry pointing out Chelsea used to be a Dragonfly. Chelsea replies "Was, past tense. And back in my day, we played rough, but not dirty," referring to the Dragonflies cheating several times throughout the race.
